The X rod’s all-new fast action taper built with our KonneticHD Technology delivers greater blank recovery and a crisper tip stop - creating tighter, more efficient loops throughout all ranges of casting styles. This taper allows you to dig deeper into the rod and access the lower sections, shifting power closer to the angler. Decreased lateral and medial movement and vibrations in the blank result in a more accurate and efficient presentation, resulting in a performance driven, forgiving fast action blank - refining the synergy between angler, rod, line, and fly.

Rod Descriptions

  • 9' 4wt: A light and versatile trout rod, the 490-4 offers great line control without compromising accuracy. Best for dry flies and smaller nymphs.
  • 9' 5wt: Sage's most versatile and most popular rod model. The 590-4 handles trout flies of nearly any size, lines of varying densities and does so with superb accuracy and line control.
  • 9' 6wt: The 690-4 X is a very powerful trout rod, able to cast large, heavy and wind-resistant flies long distances or into heavy winds. Great for big river trout fishing and smallmouth bass.
  • 9' 6w with Fighting Butt: A streamer junkie's favorite, this rod has enough power to cast big streamers or bass bugs all day. The 691-4 X is saltwater-ready with an anodized aluminum reel seat.
  • 9' 7wt: A very versatile and often-overlooked rod weight. The 790-4 is equally at home fishing streamers from a drift boat or sight fishing to wary bonefish.
