Gary LaFontaine wrote Caddisflies in 1981, he spent about 10 years researching the Caddis flies. He helped fly anglers understand the dynamic Caddis fly.
In “Caddisflies” Gary LaFontaine had the Sparkle Pupa & Sparkle Emerger patterns; patterns that show the shuck around the abdomen to represent shedding of the outer skin of the insect as it detaches from the adult inside. The “air bubble” helps the bug reach the surface in it’s vulnerable stage.
