Originally developed as a specialized imitation, the Rene Harrop's Last Chance Cripple fly pattern is intended to duplicate the image of a mayfly dun that has failed or is struggling to escape the nymphal shuck during emergence. As the name implies, failing to gain full release from the shuck has a crippling effect on an insect that must take flight from the water to survive.
